Miss Phoebe Elizabeth Stanton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Stanton of Ladentown, and Corp. Thomas E. Avenall, son of Mr., and Mrs. Thomas Avenall of Old Nyack Turnpike, Suffern, were united in marriage by Rev. Ray in The Little Church Around the Corner, New York city, April 9. Their attendants were a brother and sister-in-law of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Stanton of Monsey. The double ring ceremony was used.
The party enjoyed a wedding dinner at the Hotel Astor, after which the happy couple left for a short wedding trip through the New England States.
Mrs. Avenall is a graduate of the Spring Valley high school, class of 1939, and is employed with the Rockland Gas Co. Spring Valley.
The bridegroom graduated from the Suffern high school, class of 1934 and a business school, and was employed by the Mutual Insurance Co. of New York city, before entering the service. He is in the Air Corps, at present stationed at Key West, Fla., where he returned after the wedding trip.
