 | 1816 William Stanton will probated deceased having whilst he lived and at the time of his death goods chattels or credits within this State by means whereof the Proving and Registering the said Will and the granting administration of all and singular the said goods chattels and credits and also the auditing allowing and final discharging the account thereof doth belong unto us. The administration of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased and any way concerning his will is granted unto Carpenter Stanton Timothy Stanton and Benjamin Stanton the Executors in the said will named They being first duly sworn well and faithfully to administer the same and to make and exhibit a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the said goods chattels and credits and also to render a just and true account thereof when thereunto required. In Testimony whereof We have caused the seal of office of our said Surrogate to be hereunto affixed Witness Edward Ely Esq. Surrogate of the said County at Goshen the fourth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight Hundred and seventeen [4 Feb 1817] and of our Independence the Forty first --
Newburgh June 14th 1816 I William Stanton In the name of God Amen I consecrate my body after all my [h]onest debts are paid I commit my body to the earth deasont[?] buried being in sound mind and memory I do hereby dispose and bequeath unto my loving wife Maha Stanton all my whole and real estate for her support as long as she shall live then after her disece [decease] I give and bequeath to my sons William Stanton & Benjamin Stanton & Timothy Stanton & Carpenter Stanton my four sons all my whole and real estate to be equally divided between them all excepting two
hundred dollars that must be paid out of the estate to my son Timothy Stanton I give and and [sic] bequeath to William Stanton & Benjamin Stanton & Timothy Stanton & Carpenter Stanton & Susannah the wife of Daniel Totten all my moveable estate to be equally divided among the five I give and bequeath to my daughter Susannah the wife of Daniel Totten twenty pound in money as her part of the real estate I do hereby order and appoint Carpenter Stanton and Timothy Stanton and Benjamin Stanton my sons to be my lawfull executors to this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and date first above written

Orange County SS: Be it remembered that on the fourth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventeen [4 Feb 1817] personally appeared before me Edward Ely Surrogate of the County of Orange Thomas Smith and being duly sworn he did declare and say that he did see William Stanton deceased sign and seal the paper writing then shewn unto him purporting to be the last will and testament of the said deceased of which the preceeding[sic] is a copy and heard him publish and declare the same as and for his Last will and Testament. That at the time thereof he the said deceased was of sound and disposing mind and memory to the best of his knowledge and belief
