grandson George Furman died in Stafford NY
...
His [George's] father [Benjamin] was one of the nine children of Isaac Furman and Mary Gurnee Furman, who came from France and located in Rockland County, near Haverstraw, shortly after the ill-fated march of Napoleon's army after the burning of Moscow, of which Isaac Furman was one of the survivors. Upon leaving the army, he decided to leave his own troubled country and come to the New World that seemed so full of hope and promise. On board the ship en route for America, he met his future, bride, Mary Gurnee, a young French woman.
